bios
band history

Lino Romeo is a folk musician and songwriter of great sensitivity Having previously played electric bass and guitar for over a decade Lino studied the jarana (a small Mexican stringed instrument, similar to the charango and the complex wasteca rhythms of eastern Mexico.

After returning to Sydney three years ago, Lino performed regularly with the mariachi band The Real Mexico, playing the guitarron (six-stringed Mexican bass before joining Waiting for Guinness.

Combining sumptuous European and Modern American harmonies with exciting Latin and African rhythms Lino is fast becoming the most innovative and versatile guitarron player in Sydney if not Australia. His song ‘The Lost Mariachi’ is always a crowd-pleaser and a chance for a breather or maybe a quick pipe of Bangalow’s finest.

See the romantic Romeo and his distinctive guitarron feature heavily in posters along the North Coast.
